Our Story

Our story began seven years ago in a cozy coffee shop in Niles, California. We bonded over a shared love for coffee lattes, fitness, and gastronomical adventures. The similarities didn't end there—we both had the worst eyesight among our respective friends and families and were known for being bookworms in childhood.

Karmay introduced Daryl to the world of powerlifting, while Daryl showed Karmay the essence of fine dining, taking her to her first-ever Michelin-starred restaurant. Every day became a new adventure.

Days turned into months, then years, as we supported each other's dreams through every chapter—from the Bay Area to Seattle to New York City.

We're endlessly grateful for the love and encouragement from our friends and family, and we truly can't wait to celebrate our special day with all of you!

Frequently Asked Questions

What flight should I take?

Any flight arriving at CUN airport before 11:30AM should be able to make it in time for our catamaran event (which is still being planned and might be moved to a little later in the day). Guests coming from NYC and CLT should have an easy time finding options, but guests coming from the west coast will need to take a redeye or stay Thursday night in order to make the event. Don't worry about making this optional event and pick a time that is convenient for you to fly! We will have more unofficial events throughout the weekend at various resort venues.

How do I get from the airport to the resort?

We recommend booking transportation through Amstar or USA transfer.

Do I need to exchange currency?

No need to exchange money! The resort and most places in Cancún accept US dollars if you want to make additional purchases. Credit cards are also widely accepted. The resort is all-inclusive, so you won't need cash for meals or drinks, but you can bring dollar bills to tip.

What should I pack?

Bring summer attire, swimwear, reef safe sunscreen, and comfortable shoes. For the wedding events, refer to the dress codes listed in our schedule. Don't forget a light jacket as it may be 65-70F in the evenings with occasional light showers.

Is the resort family-friendly?

Hyatt Ziva has kids' clubs, family pools, and activities for all ages. The Turquoize Tower is adults-only if you prefer a quieter experience. Children under 3 stay free!

What's included in the all-inclusive rate?

Everything! All meals at 8+ restaurants, premium drinks at multiple bars, room service, activities (kayaking, snorkeling, fitness classes), entertainment, and gratuities are included. Checkout this page for more details but be sure to book at our booking link.

Can I stay less than 3 days?

Please reach out if you cannot stay 3 days and we can coordinate something with the hotel, but they have a 3 night minimum policy.

Can I extend my stay?

Our room block rates work for up to 4 nights, feel free to stay longer or stay at a different resort/hotel outside of the 3 night minimum!

Do I need a passport?

Yes, a valid passport is required for travel to Mexico. Ensure it doesn't expire within 6 months of your travel date. No visa is needed for US citizens staying less than 180 days.

Do you have a registry?

Your presence at our destination wedding is truly the greatest gift we could ask for! We don't expect any gifts, but if you would like to contribute to our honeymoon fund, you may venmo @Daryl-Sew or @karmay.
